…but only a draw for Blackpool. A good battling performance from Pool earned them a credible point away at recently relegated Millwall.
Even before the game, The Seasiders were placed on the back foot when Wes Hoolahan was injured in the warm up, leading to Simon Grayson shuffling his pack before kick off. Hoolahan was replaced from the start by Keigan Parker. The young Scot partnered in form striker Scott Vernon up front, with Andy Morrell switching to right midfield, a position he was employed in at Coventry City on a regular basis.
Early on, Pool were taken back with high tempo football from the start as Nigel Spackman’s side started very brightly. This spell of pressure was then followed by a dodgy Michael Jackson back pass which nearly lead to the opening goal, with only an alert Rhys Evans saving ‘Jackos” blushes.
On the half hour mark, Pool were lucky to still be on level terms when a Millwall free kick was headed against the bar. Some ten minutes after that Andy Morrell wasted a golden oppurtunity to put Pool one up when he recieved the ball from Simon Gillett, only to skim is shot just over Chris Day’s crossbar.
A substition then follwed, with captain Jackson coming off injured, being replaced by Marc Joseph. This meant Joseph would take up the right back spot, with Shaun Barker partnering Ian Evatt in central defence.
The Lions then had three half chances just before the break, with Kevin Braniff, Marvin Elliott and Danny Senda all going close for the hosts. Half Time: Millwall 0 – 0 Blackpool.
Straight after the re-start, Marcus Bean nearly diverted the ball into his own goal, only for the excellent Rhys Evans to save him, punching over the top for a corner.
The in form front man Scott Vernon then missed an easy chance on 52 minutes, with the whole goal to aim at six yards out, he poked wide.
Another sub from Simon Grayson, with new signing Ben Burgess comign on for Scott Vernon, who will have been rueing his miss. Keigan Parker then had one big chance to bag all three points which he ballooned over on his left foot. He then had a penalty turned down in the final minutes. Full time: Millwall 0 – 0 Blackpool.
A good point for Blackpool as the revival continues after a poor start to the season. They will be looking for their second win of the season away at Port Vale next week.

at the begging in of the season i would have thought that millwall would have won 4-0 but they are terribly off form.
A good result IMO especially bearing in mind we lost Hoolahan so late in the day.
