A Solid start

In our latest poll we asked you how you have rated Blackpool’s start to the season.
43% of the voters have got it about right I reckon in suggesting we have made a solid start but there is room for improvement.

Certainly the Southampton win was very important to give everyone a confidence boost and to push us up the league table away from that relegation zone.

The defence has been the definition of solid so far culminating in our first clean sheet at St. Mary’s last week. Rob Edwards has taken on the role as captain with passion and desire reminiscent of Peter Clarke.

At the other end of the pitch goals have been hard to come by with only one scored from open play. But Burgess and Kabba look in good form and with Danny Nardiello hoping for a debut against his former employers Barnsley it is only a matter of time before we start to bury some of the many chances that have been created.

That Barnsley game is a great opportunity to notch our first home win of the season and banish the disappointments of Bristol City and Sheffield United.

The 14th signing of the summer, Alan Gow, has ensured the squad is packed with players making competition for places fierce. Now Simon Grayson has to decide who fits into his best eleven.

So the Tangerine tinted spectacles have spoken. There should be no room for the doom and gloom merchants for the time being though there’s always the south stand to moan about…
