Blackpool are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performances by Tom Aldred in the scoreless draw with Accrington Stanley and the one nil victory over Doncaster Rovers in the weekend’s Easter double header was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Aldred was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Aldred made a goal-line clearance to help Blackpool earn a point against in-form Accrington Stanley, as the Seasiders kept two clean sheets in their two outings. The second match was a visit to leaders Doncaster Rovers, where the 26-year-old marshalled the back line superbly in a dramatic 1-0 win.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Aldred for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Marek Rodak (Accrington Stanley), Daniel Pudil (Sheffield Wednesday), Tom Aldred (Blackpool), Krystian Pearce (Mansfield Town), Anthony Knockaert (Brighton), Stefan Johansen (Fulham), George Glendon (Fleetwood Town), Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (Rochdale), Ivan Toney (Scunthorpe United), Leon Clarke (Sheffield United), Lewis Grabban (Reading).

Manager – Mick McCarthy (Ipswich Town).
