When Tom Aldred first came to Blackpool under Lee Clark he joined at the worst of times. Pool were losing almost every week and the defence was under immense pressure as the side struggled going forward.
Aldred received a red card in his first game for the Seasiders against Nottingham Forest and didn’t feature a great deal for the rest of the season.
Even at the start of this season Neil McDonald opted for Lloyd Jones and Clark Robertson over him.
However Jones’ injury gave Aldred the chance he needed to impress and it’s fair to say he has done more than enough to do so.
His determination and passion to defend along with his no nonsense style are something Blackpool have been missing for a long time, arguably since Ian Evatt left the club.
The last two games have seen Aldred pick up two man of the match awards and he scored his first goal for the club against Wigan in a 1-0 win a week ago.
Since coming into the side, Aldred has no doubt been Blackpool’s best player and has formed a good partnership alongside Clark Robertson in central defence.
