Blackpool defender Tom Aldred has been voted the PFA fans league one player of the month for December.
Aldred has nailed down a starting place in Neil McDonald’s Blackpool side after originally struggling to find his feet at the Seasiders and has since become one of the league’s most impressive defenders.
December saw two fantastic displays against Wigan in a 1-0 victory where Aldred scored the winner and a 2-0 win against Peterborough.
Whilst his side struggled defensively against Barnsley, Aldred’s two performances prior to this were enough to win him the award.
Aldred’s partnership with Clark Robertson has been at the heart of the limited success McDonald’s side has had this year and when that falters, the side is weakened.
Aldred’s contribution has been significant but Pool’s attack must strengthen if survival is to be achieved.
