Defender Tom Aldred has said he’s now stepping up his recovery work with his season coming to an abrupt end after he picked up a hamstring problem.

Picking up the injury in training, it restricted the 24 year old January arrival to only six starts for the club having moved to us from Accrington Stanley but speaking to the Official Site he explained that his focus now was on just getting himself fit and ensuring he comes back to pre season training in good shape so hopefully we can have a campaign that puts behind the disappointment of this year.

‘It`s been a bit frustrating with the injury but I`m just looking forward to pre-season now and starting afresh. I`m starting with a clean slate next season and I`m determined to hit the ground running.’

As for his recovery so far, he admits that testing on the hamstring has gone well over the last few weeks, so now he can start stepping up his work load.

‘I`m back running now and I hope it won`t be too long before I`m kicking a ball again. I`ve sort of dealt with the injury and frustration mentally now and that`s why I`m looking to the future.’
