Defender Grant Hall has said picking up victory over Millwall and playing his part in us keeping a clean sheet means his debut couldn’t have gone much better.

The 23 year old defender joined us a few days back on a loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur, and manager Lee Clark knows him well having also taken him to Birmingham City on loan when he was manager there and speaking following the one nil win, he explained to the Official Site that his debut hadn’t come in the most ideal circumstances, with him coming on as a replacement for injured Darren O’Dea after 21 minutes, but he felt he did well once he came on.

‘Clean sheet and a win, you can’t ask for any more than that. I thought the team did really well, it was a hard game with the conditions but we dug in and deserved the 1-0. We’ve been told to warm up before because he’d had a clash of heads and then obviously the injury came, so I was ready. I’ve got to keep putting in performances and play well, hopefully I can keep my place and go from there.’

Having spent the first half of the season at Birmingham City alongside the gaffer, Hall admits he has a good relationship with him and knows what is wanted from him, and it helps because he knows Clark has a lot of faith in him to get the job done, and that’s what he’ll now be trying to do.

‘It’s been a manic week, but I’m settled now and hopefully I can concentrate on my football. It’s going to be a long season, but we’re going to push and try to stay up at the end of the day.’
