Attack, Attack, Attack!

Ian Holloway has once again stated his intention to play entertaining and attacking football next season, in contrast to the style of play accredited to him by the likes of forum member platos!

Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Holloway said:

‘What I want to do is get the Blackpool fans to actually enjoy what they see.

‘I don’t just want to win – I want to win in a way they feel proud about. I’ve got to try to do that.

‘I want to try to attack and I am a believer in the fact that attack is the first form of defence. I might make some strange decisions and the fans might think ‘what’s he doing?’

‘I put a left winger on once when we were getting battered. People couldn’t understand why. But he ran away with the ball so he bought us some time.

‘Sometimes you attack if you’re getting hurt and that’s what I want to do.

‘Hopefully it will be a good experience for all of us.

‘I am well aware that the Blackpool fans are paying good money to watch their team and I think we owe it to them to entertain them.

‘That’s important to me and it’s why I am planning to make people enjoy what they see at Bloomfield Road next season.’

Ollie has also vowed to improve the club’s home form after the club won just five times at Bloomfield Road last season:

‘We need to rectify the home form but no-one goes out not wanting to win and I’m sure Blackpool were unlucky in a lot of their home games.

‘This Championship is so even and the club’s away form was terrific. They were going to perfect stadiums with fantastic pitches and the lads clearly responded.’

Holloway also stated that he wants to re-stabilise the club – perhaps an indication that the days of 21 loan players are behind us?

‘The hardest thing is becoming consistent, so I want to get consistent off the field – there were a lot of changes here last year. I want to bring back a bit of stability because you need it, and then hopefully we can go from there.’

Chairman Karl Oyston has given Holloway his backing to build upon the team spirit, workrate and ethic at the club:

‘The team spirit at the club is something Ian is well aware of and really wants to major on.

‘The way we play and work hard as a team – he knows that and it is one of his strongest themes.

‘Ian says that is how you have to be and fortunately there hasn’t been too much upheaval in the squad.

‘We’ve managed to retain the majority of players who proved that they could get us into the Championship and could keep us in it.

‘So there are not too many movements that we are unhappy about, and with the right players recruited we can hopefully improve the team spirit further.’
