Baggies beaten

Tony Mowbray’s team put an impressive performance in against Premiership Portsmouth but lost out to a Kanu goal early in the second half.

The Baggies’ dominated possession at various stages of the match at Wembley. Midfielder Robert Koren hit the bar from 20 yards and Kevin Phillips was a constant threat to the Portsmouth backline.

On the basis of their performance today Pool will need to be at their best to take the points next week.

However it remains to be seen just how physically and mentally shattering a Wembley semi-final defeat will be for the Albion players.

We can only hope that the wide open spaces of Wembley and the huge disappointment of missing out on the FA Cup final will contribute to a below par Baggies at Bloomers next week.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday could only manage a draw at seemingly doomed Scunthorpe. Former Seasider Ian Morris scored for Scunny in the 1-1 draw which leaves Wednesday three points behind Pool.
