Just two days after joining the club as the new goalkeeping coach, Fred Barber has quit Blackpool and returned to Crewe.
Barber is the second goalkeeping coach to leave the Seasiders this week after Bobby Mimms left for Bolton. McDonald was quick to act in replacing Mimms with Barber but his departure is sure to be frustrating for the manager who will now have to invest his time into looking for yet another goalkeeping coach just days before the season kicks off.
According to the Blackpool Gazette, it was more of a change of mind on Barber’s part as oppose to the club making an error, he was talked into returning to Crewe by their manager Steve Davis.
As yet there has been no word from the club on Barber’s departure, but it would certainly be beneficial if they could act quickly again in bringing in a new coach so the goalkeepers are able to perform at their highest.
