Fred Barber has been named as Blackpool’s new goalkeeping coach with Bobby Mimms set to join Bolton Wanderers.
News emerged this morning in the Blackpool Gazette that Mimms may join Bolton and that has since been confirmed by the club. His departure is a real blow for Neil McDonald who regarded Mimms as one of his key members of coaching staff and as a close ally. Whilst Mimms departure is disappointing for McDonald, at least he has been immediately replaced.
Barber, who is 51, played as a goalkeeper and had two spells at Blackpool on loan in his playing days. He also played for Walsall, Peterborough and Luton. In terms of coaching, Barber has had roles at Bolton Wanderers, West Brom and Crewe and has a good reputation in the game when it comes to coaching goalkeepers.
