Blackpool travel to Barnsley in their last game of 2015 as they look for their fourth win and fourth clean sheet in a row.
Barnsley currently sit four points behind Pool in League One so it’s very important the Seasiders get a result if they want to keep away from the relegation zone.
Neil McDonald spoke to the official site and said: ‘It’s about time people start talking about Blackpool in a good light, the players want to be here and are trying their best for the shirt. The players are learning as we go along because we’re still a young team in its infancy that only came together at the start of the season.’
Lee Johnson hasn’t had the best of times at Barnsley recently but remained optimistic, telling their official site: ‘We will go again, we prepare the team right and do everything we can. Our performances have turned, we need to get through to January to make two or three quality additions. It`s always tough after a loss but we go again.’
Striker Ivan Toney has been recalled by Newcastle United after a loan spell at Barnsley but captain Alfie Mawson is set to return to the starting 11.
The creative midfielder scored against Blackpool earlier this season and has been the standout player in a struggling side.
David Norris and Martin Paterson are still slight worries with knocks whilst Jack Redshaw and Colin Doyle will be assessed.
Henry Cameron and Lloyd Jones remain long term injuries.
Blackpool’s star man since nailing down a place in the starting 11, Barnsley will do well to get past the defensive duo of Aldred and Robertson.
The last game between the two sides finished as a 1-1 draw at Bloomfield Road earlier this season.
Pool have been better recently but I think this game will be a repeat result of last time, a 1-1 draw with Elliot Lee scoring for Blackpool.
