Battle to be Blackpool’s top scorer

Last season’s top scorer Burgess is back in full training after just under three months out injured. The birdman, who recently signed a new contract at Bloomfield Road, will be pushing for a place in the squad to face Plymouth at the weekend.

Burgess will be extra keen to get back on the pitch as his grip on the top goalscorer accolade is under serious pressure from loan signing DJ Campbell. DJ is level pegging with Burgess on six goals going into the last six games of the season.

And it looks like the Blackpool fans are backing DJ to win out in this one. In our poll 78 per cent of you reckon Campbell will finish top scorer whereas only 13 per cent of you are backing Burgess to come out on top.

I’m sure Tony Parkes will be desperate to try out a Burgess/Campbell partnership in the next few weeks after the only previous opportunity for this was cut short back in January at Coventry where Burgess picked up his injury.

But the with the likes of Brett Ormerod, Nick Blackman and now Lee Hughes (and maybe even a fit again Steve McPhee), Parkes has plenty of options to choose from up front.
