Blackpool have had a bid accepted for Manchester United attacker Mame Biram Diouf.

Rumours broke out yesterday that the Seasiders were in the hunt for the Senegal international and that has since become fact after a number of reputable sources of information are confirming an accepted bid privately.

The fee is not known and it would be difficult to speculate on. Likewise with the player’s wages.

Diouf was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2009 from Molde after he notched 29 goals in 63 games for the Norwegian side.

He scored on his United home debut against Burnley in January 2010, but like many youngsters at Old Trafford, Diouf understandably struggled to command a first team place.

A season-long loan move to Blackburn Rovers followed last season where he was employed as a winger by Sam Allardyce and then Steve Keen – scoring against Arsenal, Bolton and West Brom.

If the player is able to agree personal terms at Bloomfield Road it would be considered a huge coup for the Pool. After failing to meet Nile Ranger’s demands, it remains to be seen whether they can strike a deal with Diouf.

Two players Ian Holloway has tied up – as reported by us last week – are midfielders Barry Ferguson and Gerardo Bruna who are expected to be unveiled early this week.

Three brilliant signings for Blackpool , Diouf would be a excellent player for the championship also Bruna will be a player to look out for in the future. Hopefully Barry Ferguson will be able to fill Charlie Adam’s boots.

Good luck to you if you land him. can score goals, just wasnt suited to playing as a lone striker in the Allerdyce/Kean formations but did manage a couple when playing secondary striker/winger. very quick to run onto ball and I think will tear the championship apart, best of luck for next season.
