Big Time Charlie

In an astonishing twist to the Charlie Adam transfer saga, the player’s dad has come out and criticised Blackpool for not selling the player to Liverpool.

After claims that the Seasiders have rejected an improved bid of £6.5 million from Liverpool for their captain, Charlie’s dad has kicked up a storm in the national press by saying:

‘I don’t even think this is about money. It’s because Charlie took them to a tribunal over the bonus they owed him.

‘This is their pay-back. They are saying, ‘You won’t make anything out of this, we have got you under contract’.

‘Liverpool’s offer is 13 times what Blackpool paid for Charles. And they are turning it down? They have been more than compensated for him already.

‘Mr Oyston has got to realise it is somebody’s life and future that he is dealing with here. I think it is petty. This should be a time for common sense to prevail.’

Common sense eh? That’s rich…

Adam’s dad also branded the Seasiders a ‘cheap-skate club’, and whilst you have to say that he probably has a point there, he’s well wide of the mark with the rest of his comments.

If he truly wants his son to move to Liverpool (presuming he’s not just a Kenny Moyes (Charlie’s agent) stooge), then surely Adam Snr should know that Karl Oyston doesn’t respond to such attacks and that the best chance of getting what he wants is just to keep schtum and see if a deal can be struck?

I hate to think what he was like when anyone stole Charlie’s dinner money…
