Simon Grayson added to his squad before the opening day bringing in midfielder/striker Sone Aluko in on loan from Birmingham City. Aluko made the bench but four new players started. Edwards, Camara, Wright and Hammill.

Rachubka started in goal, the back four from left to right Camara, Evatt, Edwards and Coid. In midfield Taylor-Fletcher, Wright, Southern and Jorgensen. Hammill supported Burgess upfront.

Over the afternoon Pool had several chances to take the lead but a lack of a clinical finisher proved to be a problem. The majority of the chances fell to Ben Burgess but last season top scorer wasn`t able to convert any of the chances.

David Vaughan replaced Gary Taylor-Fletcher in the second half for his first appearance in tangerine. Keith Southern almost gave Pool the lead in the second half, he controlled a Hammill header and his shot crept under Weale but didn`t cross the line.

Aluko replaced Jorgensen on 87, a minute later Steve Brooker who had only been on the pitch for seven minuets fired in the winner, a volley from an acute angle.

Although a point lost the team has gelled with impressive performances from Wright and Hammill. Fortunately the squad only have a few days to wait until their next game against Macclesfield in the Cup on Tuesday.
