Lancaster 0 Blackpool 3

After the sat nav took me to a dead end I finally found my way to the ground.

Not a great match and not much atmosphere. But Larry will say it was a good work out and will improve fitness. Quite correct. I always expect more from theses games. I don`t know why I do and am always disappointed. Maybe that`s why the more sensible do not go.

However the plus points of going are you can see what to expect of the new recruits and get some idea of how we are going to play this season.

First I was completely confused of who was who except for the obvious ones like Harold and Jones as the players had no names on their shirts and they had run out of programs. Even Rocky was confused. Donnelly had short hair so it took me a while to guess who he was all had tans unlike the winter pasty faces we are used to seeing.
We also had the usual secrecy (why god only knows it just seems to come as part of the club, maybe Matt can tell us), as we don`t know who the trialists are, one was no17

A full kick-by-kick account is pointless. So I will just go through the main points. Lancaster had just a few chances and Blackpool looked livelier as we should have done.

At some time during the second half we looked like we were playing with three up front. Parks was shouting to the players to pass the ball and be patient in the passing and for them to take their time. Now I take heart from both points and hope that my view of Parks is wrong. At times we were stringing six or seven passes together to the delight of the Pool Fans, We thought we were Chelsea.

One sensible point was a water break after half an hour had gone in both half`s.

One bad point was that Whiles was carried off in the second half. I hope this was just a precaution, we will have to wait and see.

Harold had a fair match as did Patterson (I have always liked him seeing him playing in the reserves). You could not say any player had a bad one considering it was a friendly and no player should chance an injury

Scorers were Patterson, Burns and the secret no 17.

Anyway, I was a good day out better than being at B&Q SGU. The pies were great. The cheese and onion pies actually had cheese in them.

A couple of last points. I met one fan that went to Latvia and he told me Larry has got a great team spirit among the players and I met Southern great down to earth lad eh Rocky. Blinks missed an early pen too near to the right of the keeper.
Let’s hope his is not down as one of our penelty takers.
