Late yesterday evening Blackpool announced the appointment of our new Chief Executive Officer.

It’s a familiar face, as club secretary Alex Cowdy finds himself promoted from within to the role.

The 37 year old moved to Bloomfield Road in March of this year, and will now oversee day to day football operations at the club, as well as still being responsible for football administration.

Cowdy was part of the panel that interviewed for the new manager and selected Gary Bowyer and he becomes our first permanent CEO since 2006.

Speaking to the Official Site about his appointment, he explained.

‘I am delighted to expand my role and become involved in other areas of the club`s operations.’

Chairman Karl Oyston added.

‘Alex has made a big impression in his short time with us so far and I am pleased that he has accepted to take up the position of Chief Executive Officer.’

Prior to his arrival as club secretary, Cowdy spent 14 months with Fleetwood Town as Football Co-Ordinator and he was also an FA Licensed agent for 10 years.
