On the pitch

Blackpool had to come from behind twice in two games to earn draws against Reading and Charlton.

Keith Southern and DJ Campbell secured a 2-2 draw with Reading at Bloomfield Road on Easter Monday.

Yesterday DJ Campbell’s penalty and sub Lee Hughes’ injury time equaliser gave Pool a precious point while consigning Charlton to League One football next season.

Safety for the Seasiders is not yet confirmed but with 52 points on the board with two games left we should be seeing Championship football at Bloomers again next season.

Blackpool’s reserve win at Manchester City was marred by a knee injury to Steve McPhee. The striker could be out for up to six months. McPhee’s spell with the Seasiders has never got going because of numerous injuries and it can only be hoped that the former Hull forward can get himself back fit next season.

Stuart Green’s hat trick helped Pool’s second string to a 4-1 success at City. The forgotten man of Bloomfield Road is probably playing for a new club and that performance will have done his chances no harm.

Off the pitch

The South stand project is beginning to move on a pace with concrete footings(whatever they are) going in this week.

Meanwhile back on the injury front, Gary Taylor-Fletcher has undergone surgery on a cartilage problem meaning we won’t see GTF back in action until the pre-season.

The Blackpool Vital player of the season voting is underway, so make sure you cast your vote on the forum. Early votes for Baptiste, Southern and Barker seem well deserved. The race to win this year should be a close one. DJ Campbell anyone?
