As reported this morning, Kirk Broadfoot has signed a new contract at Rangers despite interest from Premiership Blackpool.

And he admitted that the Seasiders weren’t the right club for him.

‘The thought of playing in the Premiership with Blackpool was appealing, I’m not going to lie.

‘It was a big pull. But I just didn’t think it was the right club for me,’ he told the Scottish Sun.

There had been rumours for some months that Ian Holloway was tracking the Scottish international.

Those rumours now appear to be true as Broadfoot seeks more trophies at Rangers instead of moving south of the border.

It’s plausible that the defender looked at the long-term top flight future of the ‘Pool and thought it could better staying at Ibrox.

However, a move to Bloomfield Road coupled with good performances could’ve seen him move to a bigger club in a year’s time.
