Blackpool v Ipswich: The Gaffers

Jim Magilton, Ipswich:

‘Overall I thought it was a good performance. We had to be patient and the first goal was vital but once we got it, I thought we would go on and win the game.

I was pleased with the display, especially after a hard game on Tuesday.

There is a good feeling about the place, we have competition all over the park and the training ground is buzzing.’

Talking about Paul Dickov’s strike, Magilton said: ‘It was a goal. We switched off and thought it was offside and it meant we had a couple of anxious minutes, but we deserved to the win.’

Simon Grayson, Blackpool:

On the subject of the injuries to Ian Evatt and Michael Jackson, Larry said: ‘This is the last place you want that to happen, after the Nou Camp!

It was always going to be difficult before that happened, because Ipswich are a very good team with a great record at Portman Road.

But to lose two experienced players, the spine of your team, so early meant out plan went out the window.

Keith Southern and Shaun Barker battled manfully in their place but, overall, we were taught a footballing lesson.’

Grayson also stated that had we won anything from the game, he’d have been embarrassed.
