Blackpool climbed up to 17th in the table and are now four points clear of the relegation zone thanks to a third successive win against Peterborough United.
Pool went into the game off the back of a win against Wigan Atheltic, but with Peterborough the highest scorers in the division and Blackpool the lowest, few fancied the Seasiders to pick up all three points.
The Tangerines could not have hoped for a better start to the game as Elliot Lee was brought down in the penalty area by Ricardo Santos after just 24 seconds. Mark Cullen stepped up but had his kick saved by Ben Alnwick, however he was successful on the rebound.
The away side made a good go of getting back into the game and Michael Bostwick headed wide soon after before Lyness was called into action to tip over a Jon Taylor effort.
Though Blackpool were persistent on the attack and Hayden White set up David Norris not long after, who hit his effort into the ground which subsequently went over.
Pool were rewarded for their efforts just after the half hour mark. Mark Cullen’s hard work allowed Brad Potts to run past the defence and around the keeper to make it 2-0.
A third goal almost came before halftime but Alnwick tipped over Cullen’s effort.
Peterborough started the second half well and Bostwick powered an effort wide before Taylor’s effort was saved by Lyness and Samuelson smashed over the rebound.
Andy Little and Martin Paterson came on after an hour and Little almost added to the lead but his effort was turned behind.
Lyness was in great form again as he saved a shot from Erhun Oztumer to preserve the 2-0 lead.
The game finished 2-0 and Blackpool climbed up the table again after a very good performance.
