Blackpool’s management conundrum

It’s been interesting watching how the votes have fluctuated over the last seven days. Support for the new management team was pretty strong, particularly in the build up to the Coventry game. Three new loan signings had boosted the optimism of the fans.

But since the 2-1 reverse at the Ricoh Arena, the voting has swayed towards the third option – We need a new manager. 55 per cent of you went with that option whereas 32 per cent are happy to give Parkes and Thompson until the end of the season.

Going back to the Wolves game at the end of December and the atmosphere at Bloomfield Road on a freezing cold night was terrific. ‘Tony Parkes’ Tangerine Army!’ echoed around the North and West stands – the Blackpool fans were right behind the new boss.

But just two games and two defeats later serious question marks are being put against the manager’s head. Whether Messrs Parkes and Thompson are the right combination to take BFC forward in the future is open to debate. But we must get behind the management team and the players because league points are all that matters for now. We need to re-create the atmosphere from the Wolves game on Saturday against Birmingham. Let’s roar the Tangerines on to the double over the Blues and get us moving up the table.
