Reports today suggest that Middlesbrough are ready to up their offer for Charlie Adam.

‘Boro have already had two bids – of £2m and £2.5m – rejected.

A loan move for Espanyol midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura is the prefered option, as the player played under Gordon Strachan at Celtic.

However, that looks unlikely.

So the attention is seemingly back onto Charlie, but it’d take a mammoth offer of £4m plus for the Seasiders to accept.

The fact that ‘Boro are substituting a possible signing of a winger in Nakamura for a central midfielder in Charlie Adam suggests they’ve more money than sense.
