Manager Gary Bowyer has confirmed that he will announce Blackpool’s skipper for the season ahead, prior to the game against Exeter City on Saturday.
With the pre season games now behind us, Danny Pugh, Tom Aldred and Jim McAlister have all skippered the side in recent games, and left back Andy Taylor is another name in the mix for the armband as well.
With the League Two season kicking off properly this coming weekend, Bowyer told the Official Site that he would soon make a final decision during the course of this week.
‘We’re happy with what we’ve got, but only one player wears the armband. In an ideal world you want 11 captains, you want 11 leaders on the pitch and 11 voices helping each other out and encouraging each other, making demands of each other. The names mentioned have got that.’
Bowyer also wouldn’t rule out the arrival of at least one more player ahead of this weekend’s big kick off, saying that with the injuries we have and illnesses clearly we are a little stretched, so he will address that if he can.
‘You saw on Saturday that with a couple of injuries and a couple of illnesses how stretched we are. We’re trying to get one or two bodies in and it’d be great if we can do that.’
