Gary Brabin has taken over as the new manager of Blue Square Premier League side Cambridge United.
Brabin has signed a two year contract and brings fellow former Pool player Paul Carden with him as player-assistant manager.
Southport, his former employers, are believed to be unhappy about the move. However Brabin maintains that he was not under contract and therefore entitled to talk to the Us.
And judging by his initial comments he is already relishing the challenge ahead. “I want to be at a club competing with the top six sides in this league and to get promotion.” And given his reputation who would back against Gary doing just that?

Good luck Gary I’m sure you will do great.
I am sure he will turn his team into a bruising team if his playing days are anything to go by.
