Given the ‘fee’ they would pay you can understand why they would be. When, and not if, they do complete the signing of Colin Doyle Blackpool will profit to the tune of £1!

Unbelievably, and surely another indication of how bad the situation is at Blackpool, former Birmingham ‘keeper Doyle has a £1 release clause in his contract.

This clause has been triggered by Bradford, which I would hasten to add somewhat embarrassingly was activated I would imagine….

Doyle, the Blackpool club captain, was one of the rare highs from another disappointing season last time round but with us now back in the bottom tier of English Football one of the few that was retained (as he was under contract) is now set to step back up to League 1 with Bradford.

Such a release clause, as the BBC reports, was put in place to ‘ensure he had options in the event Blackpool were relegated.’

As of course we were, with Bradford ‘confident’ of completing a deal for the 31-year-old.

Now, what can that pound be spent on….
