Blackpool winger Brett Ormerod has paid tribute to the travelling Seasiders ahead of Saturday’s derby against Preston.

At 33, the former PKE player is still one of the first names on the ‘Pool teamsheet and looks set to regain his place on the right hand side after a three-game ban.

Whilst he’s been away, Ian Holloway’s side have looked lacking in shape.

The fans play a huge part in this fixture, the six-goal man says: ‘Our fans are always superb anyway, especially when we travel away.

‘They are always in good voice and the Preston game is one fixture when they do always come out en masse and have a good day out.

‘In the last couple of seasons we’ve had decent results at Deepdale so we have rewarded them.’

Iff given the nod – which is thought to be likely – Ormerod can’t wait: ‘I love derby games, always have done, and I’m really looking forward to it.

‘I think there is one thing about a derby game, any derby – form doesn’t really count.

‘If I remember rightly Preston were flying when we went there last season. We weren’t doing so well going into the game, and yet we came out of it 1-0 winners.

‘So the fact that both teams have been pretty inconsistent of late means it is a game which could go either way.

‘Hopefully it will be an exciting match but one in which we’ll come out on top.’
