Marlon Broomes has stated that he’d be happy to extend his stay at League One strugglers Crewe Alexandra.

His initial loan spell at Gresty Road is just a month, but the central defender is open to a longer period of time.

The 31-year-old who played just one game for The Seasiders, told BBC Radio Stoke: ‘I just want to play as many games as I can having had a torrid time with injuries. Then I’ll see what happens.’

Broomes made his Crewe debut on Tuesday night and played the full 90 minutes in the 4-2 defeat at Peterborough.

He also spoke about staying injury free, and is looking to strike up a partnership with Trinidad and Tobago international Dennis Lawrence at the heart of the Alex defence.
