Ben Burgess has today claimed he’s got eight games to salvage his Blackpool career.

The 28-year-old notched his first goal since October in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Desperate for a new contract, the striker’s initial one runs out at the end of the season.

And despite being given a hard time by a section of the Seasiders’ support, Burgess said: ‘I would love a new contract.

‘I’ve not been playing much since Christmas, so effectively have eight games to seal a new one.’

Thought to be deeply upset by the boo boys at Bloomfield Road, Burgess wants to prove them wrong, but admitted: ‘If I’m playing, I need to be scoring goals – that’s the key.’
