The general belief from many fans before the start of the season was that the Tangerines could well struggle this season. This was however up until Ince and Oyston together became far more active in the transfer market. The latest additions, Ricardo Fuller and Nathan Delfouneso both featured on the bench on Saturday and have joined the club along with 6 other new faces this summer.
It`s fair to say that the new additions we have seen so far have done well. Young left back Jack Robinson has particularly impressed for me, if he carries on as he has started then I can see him going back to his parent club this summer and doing a similar thing to what Irishman Seamus Coleman has done at Everton after his loan spell at the Seasiders. He isn`t the only one who has been putting in decent performances so far though; most members of the squad who have featured have done a good job wherever they`ve been playing.
But will Pool keep getting the superb results like they have done so far, for the rest of the season?
There is certainly no reason why they cannot. Clearly more players need to be brought in before the window closes with right backs and midfielders undoubtedly being what the squad needs at this current moment in time.
I for one am confident the club will do what`s necessary and bring in these players very soon, and if these professionals are as good as the players who have come in and impressed so far then even the most pessimistic of fans will have to see the bright side, and start to believe that Blackpool could well push for play offs this season.
But I cannot allow myself to get too carried away. The upcoming teams Pool have to play, Reading and Watford, will provide much more of a test for the team than they`ve had so far, I`m sure that after these games we will gain a much clearer idea of where the team will finish this season.
But early signs are promising; let us hope that the Tangerines continue as they`ve started!
