Champagne Cork?

Blackpool have once again been linked with Chelsea’s young midfielder Jack Cork in this morning’s papers.

According to reports, the Seasiders are attempting to convince Chelsea to recall him from his loan spell at Championship Burnley and sell him to them, for a fee believed to be in the region of £2 million.

Doubt over the fee aside, the chances of such a move seem slim with the same report stating that Cork is very happy to stay at Turf Moor, with the player last month expressing a desire to stay at the club permanently.

‘Pool tracked the twenty one year old in the summer, but sources at the Burnley end tell me that Brian Laws’ persistence saw him secure the player’s signature ahead of the Seasiders. Laws was in daily contact with the player, buttering him up ahead of him signing a season long loan deal at Turf Moor.

It is little surprise that Cork’s name has appeared on our radar again as he 100% fits the bill for an Ian Holloway transfer being not only both young and English, but also having greatly impressed in a three man Burnley midfield this season.

So although champagne corks may not be popping at Bloomfield Road in January, it’s clear that Ollie has his eyes set on bringing some talented players to the seaside that would compliment and add to what we already have. Fingers crossed he finds landing some of his targets next month easier than he did in the summer!
