On a night when the results of the General Election are as clear as mud, one result is very clear: that Charlie Adam has won the 2009-10 Vital Blackpool Player of the Season award.

From a shortlist of five – Matt Gilks, Alex Baptiste, David Vaughan, Brett Ormerod, and Charlie Adam (of course!) – Adam polled 60% of the vote.

He follows in the footsteps of the previous three winners of the award – Shaun Barker, Kaspars Gorkss, and Alex Baptiste – and becomes the first non-defender to win the award.

Last year’s winner Alex Baptiste came in second on 13%, with a rejuvenated Brett Ormerod coming in third on 12%.

Next up was David Vaughan on 9%, and last, but by no means least, Matt Gilks on 6%.

Congratulations Charlie!
