Slater, 22, who is currently helping Chase Town to the Midland Football Alliance title came into the spotlight this season in two impressive performances in the clubs foray into the first round of the F.A. Cup where they met Oldham Athletic. The game was televised on the BBC and as well as generating some much needed income for the Midlanders also created some interest in the former Wolves trainee.

Since then Slater has caught the eye of several league sides, Crewe, Wrexham and Tranmere, whom he played a reserve team game for. Slater now looks set to do the same for Blackpool with him been invited up to the Fylde coast for pre-season at the Seaside.

Slater commented to the press that he would prefer a move to bright-lights of Blackpool over the delights that is Birkenhead.

‘I’ve been invited up to Blackpool for the first month of pre-season to get some games under my belt.

‘I’ve also had two weeks at Tranmere. They said I looked good on the ball but lacked a bit of match fitness but hopefully that will come with training. I would prefer a move to Blackpool if I had the chance.’
