Manager Lee Clark has said nobody can feel too sorry for themselves with relegation confirmed yesterday because we still have six games remaining and he called on the team to end the season on a high and then everybody has to work towards bouncing back and crucially learning the lessons from this campaign.

Speaking to the Official Site with news coming in, Clark admitted it wasn’t really a shock for any one given our results, and our form and that massive points gap that’s grown on the survival places – but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.

‘We knew it was a case of if and when but it still hurts. It’s been a really difficult season and we’re now waiting for 3 May to get the rebuild fully underway. I’ve already started planning and looking forward to the future, we’ll be making changes and work continues in the background now to make sure that we hit the ground running when we start pre-season.’

Clark went on to say he’s already got targets in mind and of course tentative discussions can probably begin sounding people out now we know for sure it’s League One life.

‘We’ve got targets in mind and some pre-season games already in place, so I can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into the task of getting this club back up again.’

Of course we have Reading up later tonight and then five more matches to try and salvage some pride from the campaign and maybe give us some small piece of momentum or hope to carry through over the summer, and Clark doesn’t want anybodies eyes to drift from that.

‘We’ve got to do better moving forward and give the fans something to smile about again. All that has gone wrong this season has to be used in a way that ensures that it never happens again. We’ll look to put together a squad that is worthy of this club and excites the supporters. We need to bounce back to The Championship and become a competitive team once more.’
