Manager Lee Clark has said he feels Blackpool can consider themselves very unlucky to have not come out of the game against Sheffield Wednesday with at least a point to show for our efforts, and their penalty award proved enough to separate both sides come the full time whistle on Boxing Day.

Speaking to the Official Site following the one nil defeat, a down beat gaffer admitted his frustration at the scoreline.

‘I don’t think my players got what they deserved in any way shape or form. Peter is adamant that he hasn’t made contact on the penalty and the angle I’ve seen is from quite a distance away. It’s hard to say. I think we’ve had the vast majority of the game, obviously towards the end they were going to pick up off because we were down to ten men then down to nine. The players have worked extremely hard and created numerous chances, the least we deserved was at least a point.’

With Ishmael Miller’s injury time dismissal, Clark admits that we are now running out of strikers ahead of the game against Rotherham as Steve Davies is a doubt following the neck problem he picked up.

‘We’re running out of strikers, Ishmael’s suspended and Steven’s going to be a doubt. We’ll need to come up with a plan, a system to compensate for that. We’ve got to dust ourselves down, be big boys about it and go again.’

Donervon Daniels is a doubt, as is Darren O’Dea as both players were picked up hamstring problems of their own during the match, and Clark knows that it is a fall out from the standards he sets in terms of the intensity of training, but that’s a problem you risk when doing pre season fitness work during a campaign and it’s always a balancing act, but it might be catching up with us.
