Reports this afternoon are suggesting that Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley will decide this week whether to join Blackpool or Newcastle on loan for the forthcoming Premier League season.

The two clubs have been at the forefront of the chase for the 20 year old midfielder who shone on loan at Watford last season and has also stood out during Manchester United’s pre-season friendlies.

Working in Blackpool’s favour is the fact that they’re only down the road from Manchester and can guarentee the player first team football in a formation that should play to his strengths.

Newcastle are of course a ‘big club’, though.

With the player set to meet representatives from both clubs this week before making his decision, let’s hope that Ian Holloway’s charm rubs off on Cleverley as his signature would be a massive coup for the club and would go some of the way to easing the transfer pain that the Seasiders have suffered so far this summer.
