Confusion Surrounding Harte Future

It was nationally reported yesterday that former Blackpool left back had signed for SPL side St. Mirren, but that is now not the case.

The 31-year-old has told ‘SkySportsNews’ that he had been in discussions with Buddies boss Gus MacPherson, but that he hadn’t signed any contract, and wasn’t going to do so.

‘I had a good chat with the manager yesterday, but that’s as far as it goes’ Harte said.

This goes against what MacPherson had to say last night after he thought his team had sealed a deal for the former Ireland international – who recently played in La Liga for Levante.

MacPherson told ‘BBC Scotland’: ‘We had been looking to strengthen that area during the January transfer window.

‘We are delighted to now have a player who has played at the highest level.

‘He has not played as much football as he would have liked, but I saw him play for Blackpool and also for Sunderland’s reserves.’

It is thought that Harte’s contract would’ve seen him become Saints’ highest earning footballer in their history, and the package included relocation costs.

This confusion could run and run, whilst Harte has expressed his desire to find a new club soon, and seems to be holding out for a deal in The Championship, atlhough he had said to the press that a move to St. Mirren could kickstart his career and lead him to Celtic, “much like Willo Flood”, he cited.
