Tony Parkes’ Blackpool were unable to hold onto a 1-0 lead away at Coventry today, as the Sky Blues came back after half time and won the game 2-1.

DJ Campbell gave The Seasiders a 25th minute lead on debut after a long ball by Shaun Barker. After checking back inside the defender, DJ curled into the corner and showed real composure to score; the striker has since said he was pleased to get a full 90 minutes but that his groin was causing him problems.

The ‘Pool should’ve been further ahead at the break, but nothing excuses the first five minutes of the second half. Firstly, Jay Tabb crossed well from the left hand side and found Beuzelin who fired home past Paul Rachubka after just 90 seconds of the second period.

And The Tangerines looked totally shell-shocked and went behind moments later when Shaun Barker was guilty of playing the Coventry frontline onside to allow Clinton Morrison to find Michael Mifsud who stroked home to win the game.

Ben Burgess limped off injured for Blackpool later on in the game, and despite Roy O’Donovan pushing up front, they couldn’t force a goal. However, they might feel aggrieved that a DJ Campbell effort was ruled offside when in fact he himself said it looked like he was level with the last man.

It’s now seven games since the last Blackpool win, and the 900 travelling fans from the Fylde must be disappointed at the result. The relegation zone is only four points away.
