Coventry City v Blackpool

Blackpool travel to the Ricoh Arena in search of a first away win since November as they take on a Coventry City side who haven’t lost at home since the same month.

Chris Coleman’s team are performing slightly within themselves this campaign, as the Sky Blues sit in 14th place – ten points from the playoffs but eight from the relegation zone.

With the attacking flair of Jay Tabb, Clinton Morrison, Freddy Eastwood and Leon Best, City should really be scoring more goals than the 30 they’ve notched so far.

In the first fixture between the two sides this season, they played out a tightly contested 1-1 draw at Bloomfield Road in a game The Seasiders dominated but failed to make their chances pay.

Vital Quotes:

Coventry City Team News:

City have all sorts of problems, and Chris Coleman won’t know his team until the last minute due to injuries. Stephen Wright is suspended.

The team who drew to QPR last week:

Westwood, Wright, Turner, Fox, Gunnarsson, Beuzelin, Doyle, Tabb, Mifsud, Morrison, Best.

Player to watch: Freddy Eastwood

The Welsh international Eastwood always seems to score against the ‘Pool, and indeed beat Paul Rachubka to score the equaliser back in September.

Blackpool Team News:

Tony Parkes is likely to name all three new loanees in the starting line up at the Ricoh. DJ Campbell is expected to partner Ben Burgess up front, whilst O’Donovan and Owens would take up positions in the wide areas. This could pave the way for David Vaughan to get a start in the middle of the park alongside Keith Southern.

One position I wouldn’t like to predict is at left back; Parkes clearly prefers Ian Harte there, but fans have been calling for Joe Martin to start all week.

Player to watch: DJ Campbell

DJ always does well against Coventry City, and add that to the fact he’s got a point to prove, it may be worth putting a quid on him to score this weekend!
