Manager Lee Clark has confirmed that Jose Miguel Cubero has now returned to training following his injury and that he’s progressing well.

Having yet to feature under Clark since he arrived as manager, with Cubero being sidelined since September with an ankle injury, the gaffer said he’s now over the worst and is getting better by the day in training.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

‘He’s back in training, which is a great boost. He has looked really strong and has trained with the group for the last two days with no issues.’

Clark says that fitness coach Mick Rathbone has been very impressed with his fitness levels given how long he’s been out injured, so once this weekend’s fixture is out of the way, the club will be looking to line up some behind closed doors friendlies for him to step up further and start getting some decent pitch time in.

Having not played under him, clark says he’s well aware of what the 27 year old can do, describing him as somebody with a ‘class CV’ and somebody that impressed him during the World Cup in the summer when he was watching games.

‘We’re hoping we can get him back to that. The next step for us is to get him on the football pitch.’
