Costa Rican midfielder Jose Cubero is set to leave Blackpool in January, the Blackpool Gazette have revealed.
Neil McDonald has expressed his desire to change his squad in January with a few departures and additions expected to occur.
Cubero was set to leave Bloomfield Road in the summer but couldn’t secure a move, however the 28 year old has failed to nail down a starting place in McDonald’s starting 11 and it now appears like he will finally be leaving.
The news is certainly disappointing. When Cubero first arrived at Bloomfield Road under Jose Riga, full of optimism and hope for the new season, he, like Riga, quickly realised that Blackpool FC was no easy place to be.
A host of injury problems and Jose Riga’s departure meant Cubero struggled to get a decent run of games in the side, however when he did play he certainly stood out as impressive.
Cubero was a signing that excited many fans and was a rarity, as the club actually paid money for him.
However things have not worked out for Cubero at the Seasiders given the instability of the last few years and he now looks set to move on.
