Steven Davies has joined Sheffield United, the rivals of our opponents tomorrow Sheffield Wednesday, with the former Derby striker getting his wish and linking up with Nigel Clough again.

Davies would have left Bloomfield Road in the summer anyway when his contract expired so I tend to agree with Lee Clark it’s pointless keeping him at the club for another few months. It’s better for all concerned that he moves on now and has joined Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season ‘with the view’ to signing a permanent contract in the summer when he becomes a free agent.

Will he be missed? That’s a matter of opinion, but I’ve seen it suggested that Gary Madine has offered a much in a few weeks with us as Davies has in sometime – so perhaps not!

It’s just a shame that Madine isn’t available tomorrow so we’re another striker light as he can’t face his parent club.
