Steven Davies spoke recently about being ‘happy’ at Blackpool but having been pulled from the side that lost at Birmingham on Wednesday it’s been confirmed by Lee Clark he wants to sign for Sheffield United.

Well, actually Clark didn’t name Sheffield United as the club that he told the Blackpool Gazette he wants to leave for but as they’ve made more than one attempt to sign him this season it’s looking highly likely like it’ll be Sheffield United.

Reports are growing it’s them too so it seems likely that’s where he’ll ends up with having made Clark aware that he wants to leave Bloomfield.

‘I spoke to Steven on Tuesday and he asked if he could speak to another club.

‘He wants to go and speak to them, although we haven’t struck a deal yet with that club.’

Clark understandably has been left disappointed and tends to suggest feels a bit let down after we got him back to full fitness but at the same time he doesn’t want unhappy players at the club and will let him leave.

‘When I first got here, Steven was out of the team and had been injured. We got him going and he scored some goals, but during the last couple of weeks he didn’t look like he was enjoying his football.

‘It’s not just about being a manager – it’s about treating them as people too.

‘I don’t want any of my players to be unhappy and Steven felt he would like to pursue something different, but at the moment there’s no deal agreed.’

Davies’ contract expires in the summer anyway so if he doesn’t leave now on loan he’ll leave on a free in the summer, going now would see us gain a ‘small loan fee’ and get his wages off the wage bill….
