Talks with winger Chris Eagles have now broken down and he has left the club following the expiry of his short term contract.

The 29 year old had signed a two month deal with us earlier in the season, and his existing deal expired over the weekend and manager Lee Clark confirmed that talks didn’t progress as hoped, and a new contract has not been signed.

‘We are not going to renew Chris’ contract. We’ll be using the finance elsewhere. We have other areas we need to add to.’

Clark will no doubt be disappointed with this as he had made no secret of hoping to keep the former Bolton Wanderers player with us.

Having arrived at Bloomfield Road, he made seven appearances in total, scoring once in our draw last month against Charlton Athletic.

His last appearance came for us on December 28 in the one all draw with Rotherham.

Another player leaving the club is Rochdale loanee, left back Tom Kennedy. His spell at the club has now come to an end and the 29 year old returns to his parent club having made five appearances in total.

The last of which came in our six one mauling by Bournemouth.
