Vital Blackpool can this evening exclusively reveal that all being well, the South Stand will be opened on Saturday 20th February for the home game against Reading.

Electric work is taking place on the stand this weekend and season ticket holders situated in the North have already received letters detailing their forthcoming switch to the South.

Until this evening though, no set date for the stand’s opening had been announced.

Vital must stress that this date is subject to the remaining work on the structure being completed on time, which given our past record on such affairs is not one hundred per cent guarenteed!

However, February 20th has been more than pencilled in by the club for the opening we understand, and hopefully Jimmy Armfield will be able to attend the opening of the stand, which is to be named after him.

Furthermore, Vital Blackpool can also exclusively reveal that Bloomfield Road should also soon be home to two – yes, two! – big screens that will show team line-ups, match action, replays etc.

As of yet, we do not know where this two screens will be located, but as soon as we have any news, you can be sure that we will let you know.

However, there is one slightly dark cloud that comes with this silver lining – the supporter’s bar that will be located in the South Stand will probably not open until next season.

At present we are not sure why this is the case, but as with the screens, we will bring you any further news as soon as we have it.
