Blackpool captain Barry Ferguson has left the club for Fleetwood Town on an initial three-month loan deal.

The former Scotland international joins the Cod Army with a view to a permanent move in January.

Ian Holloway – subject of intense speculation about a move away from Bloomfield Road himself – admitted yesterday that he didn’t want players at the football club who didn’t want to be there.

He joined the club in 2011 for £750,000 and went onto make 52 appearances in tangerine. According to Town chairman Andy Pilley, Ferguson has taken a wage cut, while Birmingham City and Bristol Rovers were the other two clubs interested in his services.

Town officials say that the player will be in the matchday squad for tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Bromley.
