Before the frantic festive footie period starts on the 22nd Decemeber, Pool have to negotiate five more games, including the big derby.

Let’s first cast our minds back to this time last year. Pool were about to embark on an awesome run of form which would win Simon Grayson manager of the month. December 2006 was truly special for the Seasiders. Sumptuous football, goals galore and a near perfect set of results – that was the marker that we layed down to the rest of the League. Ultimately we kicked on in the new year and the rest is history.

We cannot expect the same set of results (although it would be nice). However, the next set of five games offer a genuine opportunity to pick up some wins and put some distance between ourselves and our rivals down near the bottom.

Two home games against Norwich and QPR, both below us in the table, are winnable. If we could pick up some points in these two, we could steal a march on these struggling ex – Premiership clubs.

A trip to Scunthorpe next Monday could be a great chance to get that elusive second away win. Then it’s the big one. Aside from the obvious local rivalry, in terms of league points and positions it is crucial that we pick up a result at Dumpdale.

Nobody said it would be easy in The Championship. But, we have consistently showed that we are a match for anyone in this league on our day. Our only main problem is sticking the white round thing between the two posts. Start doing that regularly and Pool will move up the table in no time. And that starts on Tuesday night against Norwich at Bloomfield Road.
