But for how long will Blackpool be able to keep Luke Higham though?
A player of promise, who has been with us since the age of eight, will be someone we’ll find hard to keep at the level we’re at, even more so if we drop down another level, which we’ve started to turn things around so the signs are ‘positive’ we’ll stay in League 1.
Higham’s signed a new deal to keep him at Bloomfield Road until the end of next season, with this deal also coming with the option for Blackpool to extend this by another year through until the summer of 2018.
After signing this deal he told the Official Website.
‘I’m really pleased to sign a new deal at Blackpool, I grew up as a fan of the club and making my league debut was a really proud moment for me. I’ve been waiting for an opportunity in the team and I think I’ve settled in quickly. I know that I need to keep working hard in training to impress the manager and hopefully keep my place, though.’
The left back made his league debut in March against Coventry, with him making nine first-team appearances so far, which includes him playing a part in the last six, four of which have seen un unbeaten.
Neil McDonald’s praised his progress and form with this a new deal warranted, adding.
‘He has been magnificent since getting into the team and this new contract is fully deserved. He’s a local lad who has come through the youth system at the club and he’s growing with every game he plays.’
