Mirror journalist Darren Lewis is claiming on his Twitter page this morning that Blackpool midfielder Elliot Grandin has handed in a transfer request at Bloomfield Road.

Speculation about Grandin’s future at the club has been growing ever since his agent claimed in French newspaper L’Equipe that the 24 year old wants to leave the club and has a host of a clubs around Europe tracking him.

It is also understood that Grandin has failed to settle at Bloomfield Road, but just yesterday the club stated in The Gazette that whilst they had seen the quotes in L’Equipe, they had had no contact with either Elliot or his agent about his future.

Club supremo Matt Williams said:

‘Yes, we’ve seen the quotes in the French newspaper but we’ve had no conversations with Elliot or with any representative of Elliot to discuss that.

‘We were surprised to read that because he is very much in our thoughts for next season and he is not someone we would let go lightly.’

Although Grandin was dropped towards the end of the season in favour of Keith Southern, ‘Pool manager Ian Holloway has gone on record about how impressed by the Frenchman he has been:

‘Elliot did fantastically well and I was pleased with him, bearing in mind I took him off a DVD. I watched him in action on the DVD and I liked what I saw.

‘When I added up how much he would cost and what his wages were… it just ticked a lot of boxes, so I decided to take a gamble.’

Grandin signed for the Seasiders last summer from CSKA Sofia for £500,000 and has one year remaining on his contract.
